Well, I have a Casino site and was ranked 10~20 for some highly competitive keywords.. Suddenly my site was completely out of SERP (no change in indexed pages though) leaving me 0 traffic. What may be the reason? I did some heavy link building for last one month. suggest me ways to get rid of this please. Regards
If you done too much link building it may have suffered as the rate of gaining new links increased much more than the normal rate. This could cause the algorithm to re-evaluate every link as a safeguard against a 'googlebomb' attempt. It should only be short term but when getting new links you should not be aiming to get 1000 links 1month then go 2 months without any new links. Link building should be an ongoing process with varied anchor text to prevent triggering any 'spam' or 'googlebomb' switches in the algorithm. Naturally, this is just my theory and it may just be a case of google analysing every site with their latest algorithm... while many other sites have already undergone this process, you have just noticed it now as it has affected you. Hopefully it will return within a few days, if not, then you should seek out any other possible problems.
it sux - I find once my site gets hit with a penalty it just kills it. Basically it resets your site to where it was some time back. You have to rebuild it back from the bottom again. I just picked up major penalty on a site that was earning me 8k a month. Now I am earning next to nothing on it. Top 10 rankings gone to number 50. Lucky I have another 30 sites it still hurts though...
I too have a site that was doing well (Not 8k! ) and it was knocked down. It seems that no matter what I do, it can't recover. I could try the reinclusion request, but you have to admit you did something wrong, and I'm not admitting to something I never did! The only thing I did was build links (perhaps too fast). The site was a good legit site and has been down about 1.5 years now. Such is Life...
could you tell us how did you build such a heavy linking campaign? so the rest of us would't comit same mistakes. all this linking penalisation makes me wonder.... say i have a beautiful pr 7... if i start setting links to my competitors at my index... they will be banned as well? thats pretty nasty, google didnt think about this? im sure lots of people would be doing this... i mean, think of it. Imagine you need to be first but you know that if you buy links from text link ads dot com you will be penalised... well... i buy links to the two sites that appear ahead of my site... they get banned, i go up to first place. Done! sounds really bad... i mean, now it could be worst than before.
Don't think buying links affect it but linking to link farms sure does. The idea is not to get a sudden surge of incoming links as that will raise red flags. I joined a link exchange site which allows you to select the categories you wish to exchange links with, to ensure you get related link exchanges. Sounds good and safe right! Not! My site got reduced from PR4 to PR2 because spammers posted in every dam category there and that site did nothing to control that.
Well I was just doing link exchanges.. Both reciprocal and Three Way.. now its a pain in my a** thinking ways to get out of it.
as far as i know if you get too many links too fast the links don't count, your site doesn't get effected but the links loose value the problem starts when you link to someone have you tried removing the outgoing links from your site?
how do one know if their directory is penalized? I have few dir\'s with good backlinks, but didn\'t get the expected PR during last update? Could you please shed some light on this? Thanks
Add the site to your Google Webmaster Tools account and submit a Reconsideration Request. Instead of saying that you've done anything wrong, write that the site complies with all of the Google Quality Guidelines and that you have no idea why it was penalized.
