Google Penalties - Wait it out???

Discussion in 'Google' started by fishfinder, Feb 3, 2009.

I'm wonder, from those of you who have had experience with google penalties, is it better to wait it out and see if a penalty is lifted, or should you submit a re-consideration request immediately?

At the beginning of January, I was hit with a -60 penalty, and the reason why is something I haven't figured out yet. So its been a month, things haven't gotten any worse, but the haven't gotten any better either.

I've tidied up quite a few things on the site, but I've yet to put in a request to google.

    Should I wait or submit??

    thanks!

Hit with a penalty in last quarter of 2007, now 2009 and no change, so kinda gives you an idea of what you can expect. ;)

you should go thru your pages to find things that may be the reason of the penalty, fix it and wait.
I tell that from my experience, hope it will help you :)

My site was Penalized in August 2008 then I sent a Re consideration Request. The penalty was removed in September, 2008..;) but now it is again Penalized by Google...:p

Agreed with Freeman Find and Fix the problem.. then Wait..;)

    Thanks.

Only recently, say about a month ago.

Il tell you straight up though, its about connections i feel, because someone still offending big time on a so called factor that leads to being penalised is enjoying the benefits, having been penalised then had it lifted.

These two people have something in common, its an unspoken understanding that allows certain people to blatently do it.

Im not going into what that is because its seen as offensive but its continued, if you speak out about why they are able to get away with it and what they have in common they will accuse you of being something that will shut you up.

Its all very crafty, and certain sites are used as examples to influence smaller ones down the line working within the same type of business.

The domino effect, its rather cheeky how its worked between a select few, frustrating too.

So many sites penalized last months... its weird. Something happened (changed) in google's algo. We just have to find out what. I think too much optimization can cause these last penalizations. Too much keywords, too much meta tags, too much tricks.

As i was penalized too i am not cleaning anything just adding lots of content, not so "keyworded" and yet niche relevant. Lets see what happens.

The problem is that I have no clue what could be the problem here.

Known Issues I've had since the pentaly took effect:

    1. Server crashed, website was down for a few days. I redirected the domain to a new server and moved all of my content there. The next day I'm penalized. (maybe duplicate content issues?? don't know!)

    2. There were quite a few outbound links on my pages. I no-followed alot of them and removed some as well.

    3. A large amount of incoming links with the same anchor text. Very little variation in anchor text. (mainly from "top commentators" widgets on blog that I visit often and comment on. I have since stopped doing so to see what happens)

If anyone is interested in taking a look at the site, let me know and I'll pm you the address, maybe you'll find something I'm missing.

    thanks!

I checked your site and I think there is no major issues that can cause the penalty, you just need more quality links to your site and play with anchor text. And wait, patience is the most important thing in seo, especially with google.

Are you sure it is a Penalty? Do a search for your domain name is it #1? If it is not on page 1, and cannot find in the next few pages then a penalty is likely

Many so called Google Penalties are just algo changes and you have slipped not penalised.

Check your SERPS on google. If you have been penalized, you will not find your url on the first page, and it will actually be on the last pages of Google.

Before talking non-sense check what the hell is a -50 penalization... and then come back here providing feedback :) There are other penalizations out there and last couple of months lots of worldwide webmasters got hit by them, specially the -50.

    Do

scubita - nobody is denying Google Penalties exist: -30, -50, -1000 and zippo, etc but there are many caes where is NOT a penalty.

fishfinder you stated that you have a lot of links with the same anchor text. I strongly believe that this causes some Google ranking penalties. This is an obvious sign of unnatural link building. With natural links some of those people would use something different as anchor text. You may want to contact a lot of those people and ask them to change link anchor text. It is best practice to vary link anchor text as much as possible.

Google penalties drive me up the wall because they allow so much absolute crap in their search results and then they seem to penalize sites for no good reason.

I'm pretty sure I had a PAGE (not a whole site just one page) penalized recently. Have other people experienced just having one page penalized but the rest of your domain left alone?
