I have read somewhere that Google penalize domain names that are nearing to it's expiration date. Is this true? My domain will expire in 5 months time...
I dnt think it is true. My domain has expired and I renewed after 4 days. I am getting the same traffic after renewal. Try to find any other reason if Google has penalized your website.
This is definitely not true. Google effects changes only when the domain has changed ownership or has remained down... for a very long while! Regards, RightMan
But is there any truth in the statement that if you register your domain for longer they take you more seriously? In other words: 1 year reg isn't taken as serious as a 5 year reg. True or false....
yes. given all other factors are same, there is some importance given to domains that are registered for a longer duration. but there is nothing like penalty for a domain nearing expiration.
no it is absolutely wrong........................google can not penalize the domain on expiration bcz a domain name can be registered for one year..................
Wicked thanks, my main site is regged till 2014 and once I've funded my eNom account some more (the damn thing eats money) I'll throw a few more years on it!
Please don't just say false or wrong, what about an explanation as to why you think that else it just looks like post count bumping stuff and not realy content.......
i dont believe this is true at all my domain has almost expired many times before and no real drop in SERPS
Untrue! I started my website a year ago next week, my pr keeps climbing. My traffic keeps on steadily growing. This was my first website attempt, so registering more than a year wasn't on my mind. I've yet to see any problems with my SERPS and PR.. My domain is set to expire on the 19th of this month. Automatic renewal..
Automatic renewal will automatically gets the renewal amount on your Paypal once the domain is expired, right?
Yeah, the renewal day is not an issue. I have never had an issue with it affecting my rankings and plenty of my sites get very close to the renewal date. Last year one of my sites was listed in 8th position on the front page for a keyword but wasn't producing revenue so I scrapped it. a month later, just for giggles, I searched the keyword and the empty site was still ranking because it had a lot of love.
