    is using a 301 redirect the same as using the forwarding feature by a domainhosting company? I want to transfer my higher PR form one domain to the one that has a lower PR. Will this work?

    I just checked this very fact using the tool mentioned earlier and got the following result

    HTTP/1.1 302 Found =>
    Date => Tue, 26 Apr 2005 19:14:23 GMT
    Server => Apache/1.3.31 (Unix) mod_pointer/0.8 PHP/4.3.2
    X-Redirected-By => mod_pointer - http://stderr.net/mod_pointer/
    Location => http://www.REDIRECTEDDOMAINDESTINATION.com
    Connection => close
    Content-Type => text/html; charset=iso-8859-1

    If this is indeed a 302 (i.e. search engine suicidal) redirect then I wonder why GoDaddy uses this as the method when I choose the Forward Domain to option!

    Should I panic?

    If you are seeing a 302, then yes, you should be upset... Maybe some will remember the business.com fiasco and the 302.

    Try to get that changed. See if GoDaddy provides customer errror pages etc...

    I am reading up their help and they are talking about domain forwarding. I have removed the redirect for now. But there is this mention of domain masking. Something like:

    Under the blue Forward Domains heading on the right side of your page, check the box next to Mask Domain: and enter the title, description and keywords Meta data for the masked site.
    Note: Masking is only available after you have set up domain name forwarding.

    What is this masking thingie?

    Thanks

    I am not sure what GoDaddy's version of masking is, but from what I have always understood, it is basically a framed page that allows you to keep your preferred url in the address bar as people view your site.

    EG: Actual domain: www.your-domain-here.com

    People see this: www.yourdomain.com because that is what you have set it for.

    The keyword, title and description sound like part and parcel to what I have seen in the past. It is a terrible idea, IMO.

    What are you trying to accomplish Ajeet as far as the two domains?

    When I booked them, it was part of a grand plan to have the second best web directory :p So, I booked the name and a lookalike, lest someone take it later :rolleyes:
