Google Pays You to Report TOS Breakers!!!!

Okay, well if you got here the headline sold. But what if that was true?

I know you have gone and found sites that have broken Google's TOS. Do you think it would be good for Google to pay adsense accounts like $1 or $0.50 for catching people who breach TOS.

Because if you think about it Google would probably make more money from a safer network and have more people who are looking for breakers because there is money involved.

Meh, that just came up in my mind. What do ya think?

Probably opens up to abuse where people will just go and report every site they see and hope that one really breaks the rules, thereby giving google way too much work to do.

It does pay for Adwords users to report TOS violators since they don't have to pay violators if they are no longer in the program.

I would say that in order to join such a program, you'd have to give up US$1 when reporting a site, and if it does break TOS, you'd earn US$2 for it. If the site didn't break TOS, Google recoups their labor by receiving your US$1, but if it does break TOS, both parties would be ahead.

Not a bad idea. I love to go to Google's blogsearch and type "click my ads" or "click the ads" (with quotes) to find hilarious TOS problems.

Catnabbit, yes you make some good points.

I was thinking about people just being stupid and reporting sites when I was originally writing my post up.

As to paying already - yup but I'm just saying that if they can "see" the benefit people will be on the lookout for sites that violate TOS.

But yes, the system obviously wouldn't be perfect. Something would have to be created to prevent idiots reporting sites.

    @ dadasays

Something needed to be created and you just did it. That sounds like a great idea.

Edit: It probably would also kill the many "Check this TOS violation" threads on DP.

I think they should provide such option to AdWords clients only. So when they report TOS violators, they need to provide their AdWords account number.

That should avoid TOS violations reported out of Jealousy etc

Yeh dont forget that google makes money on all ads. Wether they are good ( ok with TOS ) or not. I doubt they are keen to make less money.

That wouldn't work at all... people could just make a site that would not follow the TOS using someone else's id and then report it.

    Well,

I never said my plan was perfect. Thankfully this is normally not how I plot things (like taking over the world).

As stated there are a bunch of ways one can bypass this. But I think ideally it's win-win. It is much harder to put it into practice though.

Oh no one is beating you up for it, I mean the IRS gives rewards for tax cheats, and you see how well that does for eliminating tax cheating.

Nah I know no one was beating me up for it.

It just sucks because I can only imagine how tough it is for Google. No matter what counter plan you put in place it too can be broken and taken advantage of.

It's good that people do bring up these slightly more negative points because these are some that I hadn't really thought of (100 report. who get's paid?).
