Google Payment - Why so Optimistic?

I keep reading these posts that contain something along the lines of "Yeah paypal sucks, they let xxxx rip me off, I can't wait for Google payment to come out"

Why is everyone so optimistic about google payments?

    Scenario:
-Person A buys online service/product (IE: intangible) from Person B
    -Person B does not deliver
    -Person A files dispute.

    How would this be handeled?

Paypal currently protects the seller. What makes everyone think Google will back the buyer? If Google backed the buyer the sellers would be the ones complaining.

Dealing with protection on intangible items is difficult for online payment processors, damned if you don't damned if you do. Damned if you back the buyers, damned if you back the sellers.

I take it you've never had a problem with PayPal then? If you work with them long enough, you'll find they're a company with a lot of problems. Any alternative to PayPal would be great in my opinion. Even if that alternative isn't as good as you think PayPal is, at least it may help PayPal clean up its act.

The theory is that increased competition will cause paypal to work harder on their customer service (assuming Google's service will compete directly with Paypal).

paypal's CS can only improve. If competing with google helps that along, paypal will be 100x better already.

Google couldve problems as well, but people are fed up with paypal right now so they are ready to try an alternative.

I have an account with paypal, my partner is in US, so he checks that account from US and me from India, they closed our account due to security issues, we contacted paypal and explained the whole issues and told them we do not have any problem whatsoever if our a/c is operated from two geographically different IPs, they said ok and they reinstated the a/c. A few weeks later they again closed the a/c for same reason, at that time we had around 2k in paypal, we contacted them again, but they wont listen now, that money is still struck with paypal. WTF

I am ready to try Google, a new service Green ZAP, also came into circuit around an year back, but it did not kick off, but with repute of google, i think the would be able to give paypal a healthy competition, which is needed badly.

Monopoly is bad in an aspect of business.

I’ve setup a payment company before and it is not easy. One of the biggest challenges will be the support as well as the policies and enforcement. Paypal is not really a payment company; rather an ewallet type service. CCBill, Paycom, and Netbilling are payment companies.
