i like new algorathim sites with the fresh content are comming up rather than sites with more backlink and duplicate content
There is some interesting discussion going on at webmasterworld on Panda update, titled "Google credibility after the Panda Update" It appears more of change of faith for Google (in other words, Google appears to have changed its faith). What needs to be checked is whether the general public are ready to take the turn, otherwise, Google will go Altavista. As a consequence, people are betting on increased market share for bing in the coming months.
Exactly. I can easily name websites that got hurt from this update because their content sucks and is duplicate. It's harder for me to find websites with user-optimized content that got hurt a lot from this update.
to respond to a question posted here - the indexed pages of my site are the same .and no,my site did not used any black hat,i used only a few directory submissions, the rest of the links were comming naturally, from others sites . i have around 900 different sites linking to pages from my site (as i see them in webmaster tools),with Total backlinks : 4,106,233. now i get more visitors from google images than before ,around 4000 daily . but other than that,it's bad .some of the pages i was nr 1 in search results have maintained their position, but most of them didn't . the problem is that some of my competitors are doing well, even if they don't offer quality ,they just offer the lyrics . i am offering more than that, other information ,manually added to each lyrics . so ,why do they rank high even now,and i was drooped ? that's the question . that makes Panda unfair, and far by perfect .the rules should apply to all sites
look on the bright side, if your indexing hasn't changed, it's probably not a penalty. that's good! what you need to do now is get out of rant and bitch and whine mode, and get into fix mode. it's unlikely that your site was snagged by panda if what you say is true and your pages are higher quality than your competitors. some very smart people worked very hard for a long time on this update. it's unlikely it would have the reverse effect, and no observers are reporting that. if it were true, high-quality sites like universities would have been affected. very few people with legit sites are complaining. i have followed complaints about panda closely and have found no conclusive evidence of a misfire. so your problem can probably be explained by a technical issue, coincidence or indirectly related, for example canonicals, the way you display your content, irrelevant or duplicate content within your site... it might also be the weight of your backlinks as someone suggested. conclusion: get an SEO to check your pages.
It appears that the sites that were authoritative prior to update are getting less of organic SE traffic, but more of other traffic like images, social media, etc. Regarding the Unique content aspect, there is some interesting discussion going on at webmasterworld: After Panda Update, Scraper Sites Still Taking Top Positions It was generally felt by webmasters that though some good sites were promoted in SE rankings, most of the sites that got benefited with recent Panda update are scrapper sites, and similar. Anyways, its finally for the public to see the results, and look forward for April Hitwise stats. BTW, Google had corrected similar bumps in a couple of occasions earlier (during the past 10 years or so), and most of the webmasters are Google fans. Hope Google is going to retain their trust.
I thought of this too, before I see my blog get penalized/hit by the stupid Panda I spend hours each day writing reviews and contents *sigh*
For those who are interested, there a discussion on Panda key algo changes Some of the suggestions posted include the following: - Internal links devalued, only external count really - Thin pages cause substantial bigger problems for a domain - Duplicate content snippets on your page cause substantial bigger problems - Too many external named links "widget keyword" instead of "more..." - missing positive reviews from the usual review sites count as a minus and many more suggestions.
There some discussion on webmasterworld on updating sites to rank well in Google. Panda key algo changes. Some of the suggestions include: devaluation of internal links, duplicate content snippets on web pages, too many links using the same keyword (say blue widgets), thin pages, etc. More clarity is expected during the next few weeks.
Good analysis. But there seems to be more than just dropping or devaluing backlinks. Many webmasters are finding spammy sites getting ahead of good content sites. My SERP positions taken by scraper sites after Panda Update*
this is just a disaster,my site with unique content got penalized by google and google is preferring a spamy site instead
I did not find any changes in my niche. We have unique content only, but our rankings have not gone up. Been doing link building for 3 months.
Could be those other sites had been there longer than you, and Google assumed you just copied their content
