Correct me if I am wrong, but is'nt google running the largest "paid link" program out there with adwords. You have to pay to get to the top spot in the serps with adwords. The person who pays the most(+ some relevancy) gets the first spot. When people "buy links" the end goal is to get more (and better quality) links to get higher in the serps. Just like adwords. Just a thought but maybe they want to make it harder to do seo etc so that you give up and use ppc (adwords) What does google expect us to do, go to our competitors and ask for links so that we have high quality relative links? They keep narrowing the way to get links and the "Webmaster Guidelines" are so vague their is no set of true "rules". At least if they change something just some out and tell us so we can spend more time working and less time reading rumors and trying to guess why are serps dropped in a day. They should try to work on getting rid of the spam, scraper adsense sites and help the "white hats" who are trying to do the right thing. But why would they do that? I mean they don't make any money on a sports shop selling items who uses SEO to get the #1 spot. But they do make money off of a scraper site with adsense. Or the other sports company who is using adwords. Conspiracy Theory? Or untold truths?
There are lots of threads on this subject. Lot of people does not agree AdWords as link sales. -- The reason they say is, AdWords do not pass PR! That is the main issue Google has with Links Sales and link buying! I am not trying to be smart; this is what I comprehended from what I was reading on the forum.
Sure , I understand they don;t pass PR. But you don't need PR if you buy ppc. You pay money, you get to the top anyway. Thanks for the reply. It's funny, almost the same time I posted mine, someone else posted something simliar.
since when does google look at its own website and spider it? do you seriously think that google would spider google.com and pass on the relevant PR to each page it linked to??? anyone who thinks that is a moron the paid link conspiracy is the fact you can buy your way into yahoo organic listings not google adwords. do you seriously think any one would buy that????
If I pay the highest "bid" in adwords I will show up to the top of the results. Not organic results but the adwords results. That means I can buy a "link on the front page of the serps. Who makes money from that? Google! One of the main reasons why people buy links is to get higher in the serps. You are just skipping the middle man. Any moron would be able to see this.
0otheoracleo0 is 100 percent correct. You have to follow the logic of what a paid link is ... a way to appear higher in the Serps. In that respect, Adwords is identical ... it makes your site appear at the top of search query results. The passing of pagerank for paid links does not change the underlying facts, both paid links and adwords which are also paid for make your site appear higher in search results. Simply because adwords are seperated at the top and sides does not inherently make them ok. I can't speak to their motives but Google's stance on paid links is obviously hypocritcal ... Both organic search results and Adwords appear on the same html page and both are paid for... that is the point. I challenge anyone to say that location on an HTML page of search results makes one set of search results bad and the other just fine. As long as Google offers a way to pay and appear at the top of a page of search results (Adwords) then it is always going to raise eyebrows when they take a holier than thou stance against sites buying links. All those paid links do is help their sites appear under and beside Google's sold links called Adwords. The average person who is not an internet junkie doesn't even realize what's an Adwords result and what is an organic result in a search. In other words, if Google wants purity of search results they would have to eliminate Adwords when they eliminate sites that utilized paid links. Additionally, the real problem with search results is Adwords spam spawned by their Adsense program. This could easily be stopped by Google but it is not. Wonder why?
When the seller is google it is OK. Those two kids are gifted with that tallent/luck. So, if you compete with them, how can they allow that? Simple, if you sell it is wrong, if google sell it is correct. --
Yes, I agree with both of you. I am not seriously saying that google is doing this on purpose so that we buy adwords. But since they come down and say that we cannot buy links (or even get links through "white hat ways")like directories (and I guess only CERTAIN directories? What's up with that? ban one ban all or don't ban Stop keeping us guessing)yet you can buy your way to the top with adwords is a bit hypocritical. I build links all day as it is my job. We have never paid for a link. So when I have spent hours building links and 6 months ago it was "ok" to use directories nd was ONE of the ways I built links. Now if they are devalued then it is wasted time. Just venting a bit. I think they need to revamp the rules give it to us straight. I know it is not as easy and cut and dry as that but I think the majority of us are in business and trying to do the right things and trying to get relevant content into the serps. What they need to do is spend their time cracking down on the scraper sites that are ruining the serps, but similar to what world said want to do that when they make money from the scraper adwords sites.
