Google Pages now open to gmail users

Just got this in the mail:

 

Thanks for passing this on. I can see these pages as being good for deep linking to your regular sites. Worth a try.

 

Already happened to me. Apparently the first person to ever use google pages (wife of someone high up at google) has a link to my website on her google pages site:

lol because i have around 10 gmail accounts i have made 10 webpages and just stuffed them with my links.

 

sorry if this is a naive question, but - how will backlinking from these pages be any better than backlinking from other sites?

 

I dont think google would even count them. But instead of letting that space go to waste you might as well do something.

 

Righy, but wouldnt time be better spent building more content?

I wonder if these things will have any advantages - sort of how blogger blogs do - being indexed probably more often?
