Did Google change something within the last month? I am not sure if this topic belongs here or belongs in another spot. If it does belong in another spot please move it. Did Google do a backup or something? Last December we changed over our website to all ASP pages (Non-Dynamic) Everyone of these pages were in Google's index until this last month or so. For some reason, in every data center checked against mcdar.net has our pages from pre jagger update. These pages no longer exist? How can this be? 1) There is no reference to these pages anywhere on our website? 2) Our Google Sitemap doesn't have these pages in there http://www.worldfamousgiftbaskets.net/sitemap.xml 3) Our robots.txt file doesn't block Google from anywhere on our website? http://www.worldfamousgiftbaskets.net/robots.txt 4) If you search site:www.worldfamousgiftbaskets.net in MSN, all of our pages are there. If you do this in Google, any pages that comes up with the exception of our index page are not there. Please realize that all of the pages that it is showing now, we verified to be gone as of the end of March. At the end of March, all of our newly redesigned pages were present and accounted for. Somehow, all of our old pages got back in their index after they were removed. Can anyone help us out here? Did they change something that would bring our old pages back? Wayne
Did you 301 the old pages to the new ones? Google is pretty screwed up at the moment so its feasible that they have rolled back a few months with the data.
I see many of your pages are supplimental results. You can search the threads for the issue many are having with google.
What do you mean supplimental results? Yes, if you go to any of our pages that show up in Google's data centers (except for the index) you will be transferred to http://www.worldfamousgiftbaskets.net/all_wfgb_giftbaskets.asp All of our pages were in Google's index until recently. I don't understand how things could have gotten screwed up. I did use their robots.txt tool and it says that it cannot find one however when I check it, it comes up just fine and says we are great. I have Google sitemaps and Google Analytics. Everything there says that we are great with no errors? I don't know if they did another update and had to go to last years backup of their filkes or not.... Has anyone else had this issue? Wayne
Same problem here. Only have about 80 or so pages that are up-to-date, the rest (20,000+) are from August last year. Everything was indexed fine up until about 1 1/2 - 2 months ago, it has been like this for way too long.
Don't take this wrong, but I am glad it is not just us... lol Here is the steps I have taken: 1) Made the robots.txt file compaitble with Google. (Google has a tool that allows you to check this but I cannot find where I saw this at) 2) Have a Google Sitemap (Any sitemap generator will make this for you) 3) Contact Google http://www.google.com/support/bin/request.py That's all I could do I guess. I THINK that Google is still trying out their new algo and they are trying to get rid of spamsites and in doing so they set a start point sometime last year and what they do is using all cached sites/pages, no matter how old they are, i.e. last years and no new ones after that. They show the result in the SERP's and instead of having QA people that release what they have and then they go here to see if web masters are mad and report old result showing up I don't think they know what they are doing right now! They know they have a HUGE problem but don't know how to fix it so they go back and forth in their cache to see what is the best results. The problem I have with this is that I don't know if it my site that there is something wrong with or if it is Google that's screwed up. Do I dare change anything? My hit's keep fluctuating up and down. A couple of weeks ago or so they went way down and haven't really recovered yet. Yesterday was the first day of getting better result but today it is all screwed up again. Google is like the wayBackMachine it's only that the WayBackMachine is a lot better and you expect to see old pages!
That's exactly what I did this morning and late last night after posting similiar problems in another thread. I'll wait and see what happens. I'm having the exact same issue by the way. Some pages that were indexed are completely gone, while others that were delisted months ago have returned. Many were .php files from a blog. Others were .shtml and html pages. So there seems to be no logic behind it such as only php or asp pages, etc. Just plain pages are listed and delisted. It seems arbitrary. I don't know... It's annoying, I know that.
Well, I would hope they would see this and YES I AM HIGHLY UPSET!!! I hope whatever it is, they fix it real quick! Wayne
