Google Pagerank question?

When google assesses your page rank does it take links in other search engines in to account or only the links that are in google.

    For example.

In google I only have 5 backlinks.

    But...

In Yahoo I have 1300 backlinks - would google take these links in to consideration?

You have more than 5 links in google. Go to the webmasters tools and add your site. You will find that google has around 70% of the links in yahoo.

no google will not look at backlinks from other search engines unless these links can be followed or indexed by googlebot. Most search engines block out the search results pages.

You have far more links than that, Google only shows a small portion of their links publicly so that people will find it harder to determine their algorithms, etc.

Make sure your Yahoo 1300 backlinks are all Google indexed.

Google has go nothing to do with the links coming from the others search engines because the PR is directly related to the links counted in Google data centers.

According to google I only have 157 backlinks when I use link:site.com but if I use their webmaster tools, it says I have over 40,000. So yea they have your crap in there system.

Google doesn't care about links that Y! tracks. And they only show a small percentage of your links using the link: command.

Google looks at their own information. However it is very, very (did I say very?) doubtful that Google only has 5 links for your site. Any SEO will tell you to never rely on Google's numbers, because they simply don't tell the truth about what they know.

They decide to show a portion of the known backlinks, and even which portion they show changes from time to time. They've gone so far as to admit this in SEO conferences.

The thing about Google is that on the surface, they are SEO friendly (and even that is kind of a "new" thing), but at the end of the day, they don't have much interest in giving us too much help. This is why their toolbar PageRank numbers are months old, so that it makes it harder for us to game them.

Google actually tracks backlinks faster than Yahoo. The problem is that Google does not want to display them.
