Absolutely, it is DownDate for 80% of my websites :p
    I'm glad I'm not the owner of digg.com :D

Anyone with major changes in the SERPs ?

I have seen big rises since the last week of last month for many client sites. I am not complaining. :) I still see no change to PR though

    Too right.:D

Don't forget digg doesn't redirect digg.com to www.digg.com so anybody seeing digg.com with PR0 is likely to be exposing canonicalization issues as well as the possible PR update.

I see PR7 for both www and non www. versions. :) Maybe this isn't a PR update but a toolbar update, or even a toolbarprupdate. along the lines of link: etc

NOTHING would surprise me with Google, after all who uses the silly green bar? LINKMONGERS and that is all. Toolbar Pr is only good for affecting the value of a link and nothing else.

If I were googleboffins I would certainly piss about with it to make the reported value of pages wrong on a constant basis. This would undermine the entire link selling thing at a stroke. maybe then we can get back to linking for relevance.

As eminem said 'I've created a monster cos nobody wants to see Marshall no more they want Shady, I'm chopped liver'

Google created this whole pagerank toolbar crap, and now it is coming back to bite them on the arse, because no-one is linking for traffic and for visitors anymore (well that is wroing as the true web marketers know what is needed fro long term success) ;)

The last update made link selling even worse. Brand new sites with no real substance were getting PR5 & 6. If you give a rubbish site PR6 then it can make far more money selling links than doing anything else.

I always find it amazing when you look at PR7 sites selling links and see they have about 40 backlinks.

It's pretty easy for someone to set-up a network of high-ish PR sites with a little capital. The result is hundreds more worthless sites to add to the MFA ones. I've never bought a link for it's PR and never will. A complete waste on money IMO.

No because that would undermine most of their search algorithm which is based on all the factors Page Rank calculates. But yes, I'd rather have a PR 1 website with 1k uniques a day than a PR5 website with 1k uniques a month.

How do you work that one out? toolbar PR has NOTHING to do with the ranking algorithm, toolbar PR is a snapshot of Pr at a certain time. Did you read my post? I suggested that Google pissed about with reported values on the toolbar NOT the PR Value itself!

In case you don't know I will repeat it again. there are 2 PR values,
    1. Toolbar pr which is updated periodically and plays no part in the ranking algorithm
    2. Serverside Pr which is in everflux as links are added to and removed from the index. It is this pr value that is used as part of the algorithm value.

So clearly you must agree that Google disabling the PR value on the toolbar will NOT
Simply because toolbar PR has nothing whatsoever to do with that algorithm in the first palce :)
