because you need to enter your api key to check Backlinks..now
I was using my key to check till yesterday, but it quickly got axausted..

so go to the rankalert home page and enter your key there.. or use this page if you dont want to use API - http://www.rankalert.net/bl.php (using my api so only 1000 queries a day..)

I know I have said this in the past, but what exactly are all you going to do when PR changes? What plan of action are you sitting on that you can't implement until the PR change becomes official?

I am just trying to figure out where all this angst and handwringing is working towards. If all your pages got a pr update today, what would you be doing tomorrow that you would not have done already?

Myself directly, I don't care about PR that much. Sure, it is good to see the level of significance sites of mine have, watch them develop, etc.; but really, not a big deal. The power of it comes in others' perceptions. Like it or not, there are A LOT of people that judge the worth of a site based on PR. They make buying decisions based on it. For example, a lot more people would be interested in listing their site with a PR8 directory than a PR0 directory. PR0 equates to "why bother" in the minds of some people. Likewise, for those who sell advertising...a lot of people judge pricing on it or even if they want to advertise at all, etc. Also, I believe that the ad network judges "weight" via PR. These are just a few examples. There are others too.

The bad side of pr is of course the advertising.
Where a pr0 site would want say one buck per month, another site with pr5 jumps to like 20 bucks per month.
    Which one deserves the money?
For pure backlinks, yeah, go with the high pr sites.
For traffic to your sites, you have to see each site, pr0 or higher, what they have, are they relevant to your site, etc.
Then base your buying on that aspect.

Again, I would rather get 100 visitors from a pr0 site than have the bragging rights to having bought a link on a high pr site that sends me few to no visitors.

I had a god damn single text link in a website that was PR2 .. for 4 months ..

That link brought me about 15.000 visitors per month ..

I also have links in PR7-8 websites, that bring me 1-2 visitors per month (But I get the PR).

It all depends on what you are after.

I don't judge a website after PR (well a little, but it's not such a big importance). It's the community that matters, and who's watching/reading that website.

Yep. A PR4 site currently brings more traffic to my blazemp.com site than others with PR8, etc. It's a Romanian site too, Expertu! :)

Only us (SEOrs) are crazy about PR .. Some webmasters don't give a s..t about that, or they didn't even heard of it .. What counts from them are visits.

Yup, I know about it :)

I understand the perceived and real value of PR.. My question is more for this waiting for it to change. I know I have gotten caught up in it before. It is not like waiitng for the lottery numbers. Whatever you had planned for tomorrow, is probably still a good plan, since the update only represents the number at a singular point in time and the actual useful number is always changing.

I guess my point is, whats hubub bub? Are you going to do anything demonstrably different tomorrow if you site goes from a 3 to a 4 today? Perhaps some people will... who make all their income on selling links based on PR. Other than that very small fraction of people though, it just really doesn't make much difference as a single event.

nothing but if your site goes from 4 to 6 or above or something then you do something. Anything 5 or under seems useless to me..

For thta change no, but if it goes 3-4 steps higher, I will try my best to really put more effort into it (imporving the content, the usability, the community etc). More than I usually did before.

    LOL .. That's a nasty use of English :D
