Google pagerank goes up and down in a week ???

Last sunday 9/28/2008 Google updated my backlinks from 98 -to- 160 and boosted my Pagerank from PR3 -to- PR4 with lots of pr3 innerpages, on thursday just 4days after the raise, my backlinks went back to Pre update level and my PR dropped back to PR3.

Is this something normal? I was getting over 1,000 vistor from google per day before the raise on last sunday, but now its about 100, but my position in the search engine remains high!!

Where can I find out my PR and backlinks by google?

 

The 2 update period, google make lot of correction and SERP change every time.

 

To check PR use Google Toolbar.
And for checking your backlinks search this in google :

I think there was a rollback from the last update so alot of people's pr are going back to what it was before the update

Is there a relevance to the space? Between the : and the URL?

I just tried mine, without space between them I have only 29 backlinks, with a space I have over 7000.

That's a pretty huge difference!

 

I have seen people complaining about a PR revert back. I guess this is a problem that everybody is facing.

Then I guess you should be happy as the real thing that matters is the SERPs not PR

 

i saw you PR=4

when i check your backlinks google show only 79 and they gives you PR=4

where as when i check mine google show 132 and they gives me PR=2

my website is mobicreed.com

when i search for one more website which is nokiasymbianthemes.com google shows 138 and give him PR=4

iss there any thing wrong with google......

It's not just the number of backlinks, but the quality of backlinks.

 

It seems like google is making more and more changes in their algorithm.

 

I don't think this was the intended update. I think they were trying something out before they push the real update at the end of the month.

Think about it...so many brand new blogs, some as old as 1 week, getting pr 3 and 4's.

 

I think the PR too started oscillating over a period of time similar to google dance; or shall we call it as PR dance?

 

Its showing PR4 to me with 159 Backlinks..

still google pr update is going on for few website, i have seen good change in back links and site pages...

 

pr isn't what it used to be anymore lol...you know that they penalize sites if you have do-follow outgoing links - lots of complaints about that over the past year, so you can have a 100k links and have 0 PR which wouldn't make any sense 2 years ago

 

I think so , i have around 150 sites, most up site still same PR , around 10 sites gone down from PR4 to PR3 , 5 sites gone up from PR4 to PR5, Can't believe all 5 sites related to gambling and Adult.

 

This tool shows I have a page rank of 3. It's weird how different tools give you different ranks.
