On the google toolbar there is a green line which reads : "pageRank is google view of the importance of this website bla bla bla". However, pagerank data is ancient (6 months is an eternity on the internet), displaying false and inaccurate data. And a message to google : if you are unable to keep this data accurate and up to date (failing to update for 6 months is lol) why don't remove it or disable until you can display proper information.
No that is not the ONLY device to check PR. You have lots and lots of other sites to check PR and other details. try this one : checkpagerank.net
I think lots of webmaster and link building who have being working on a website for the past 6 months believe that, they should have a better PR than what is currently display on there site, because Google refuse to update the PR for the past months. One of my blog is PR2, but when I used PR predict tool to check the PR, it is PR4, and am sure when Google update PR, it will PR3 if not PR4.
I dont think Google is reading your posts so Why don't you remove toolbar from your browser and get it over with? BTW, toolbar PR update is less than 1 week away, should be any day now actually. Stay put.
I don't think Google will take your advise any time soon. They should get rid of it completely. I believe that G is unhappy with the fact that PR became so important that it was the main driver for website development and 'making money on the web'. Now, it looks like they will let it go stale in the hope that most will get discouraged and forget about it. If G announced that it was the end of PR, they would have a riot on there hands. And they know it.
Pagerank is not the best way to check up on a site. It can easily be faked and you can easily get any website up to PR3 nowadays
it is true that the importance of pagerank is lower now then before, but it's still a good tool .too bad it's updated so slow now
Totally agreed. Sites changes every day, but PR hasn't changed since April. To a certain degree, PR loses it's value.
I would have to agree. Then again, how many people do you think is still relying on the misconception of PR? Thousands or even millions or misled people who thinks PR is a big value for SEO. You can just imagine how many people or even companies would try and use that as a marketing advantage especially when selling links (regardless if the intention is white hat or black hat). @OP - The PR displayed on Google Toolbar has been known to be inaccurate as PageRank has and always have been updating daily. Imagine if the Google Toolbar showed the accurate result on PageRank? That would be like a 10 digit number or more, not just the numbers you see that ranges from 0 to 10. So basically, the number you see on the toolbar is merely the representation of the most recent PR you have attained from the most recent update. The purpose is just to give you a rough idea and not an accurate data.
I believe they will disable it one day, and that they will remove us knowing what is and what isn't in Google's cache.
How about trying a little research in Google about it? You're asking for something which is totally black hat.
I'm not talking about how valuable PR is or if it's a good measure of website quality (assuming google would update it every day, perfect scenario) I'm talking about a metric that is flawed and inaccurate from start because it's static (6 months freeze) while the thing it measures is highly dynamic.
Google page rank checker is the most reliable tool , If you are not trusting on that, than it's really hard to find our the actual page rank.
Well yeah, it is indeed inaccurate. But would it really matter if it was shown as accurate as it can be? I think Google will be better off without it. What would Larry Page feel if they remove PR? lol.
