google page rank update

While I agree with this, it still leaves the question... why is the pagerank indicator still in the toolbar? It would be a lot less grief if they just took it out...

 

Yeah you are true upto some extend.

 

Removing it from the toolbar would prove to everyone it is dead and gone, AND draw attention to it... I'm not so sure google wants to make it such a big deal. I can see them wanting to just leave it there for awhile until it is forgotten about... then one day it will be gone from the toolbar.

 

Not a valid reason in my view. Ask anyone outside of SEO what google PageRank is and you will get a blank stare. If I remember right, it wasn't even setup as the default on the toolbar install.

This was an insteresting try by google (PR), but it does nothing for the user. They need the google toolbar installed AND PageRank enabled. And then what, the user will decide to not read their sports news because the website is under PR2 ?

NO ONE CARES about PageRank other than SEOers, and they have spammed/manipulated the "F" out of PageRank. It serves no useful purpose anymore (to at least show the PR). Google still probably uses it for SERP's and probably updates it still, but I don't think it will be shown to the public anymore.

Just my view...

 

Heck, weren't people trying to sue google because their pagerank was lost or something similar? This shows that google PR was "adding true monetary value" to websites. A website could be worth thousands to 10's of thousands of dollars overnight if the PR went from a low number to a 7+. I don't think that was ever the intent of google with PR, and the reason it is going away. It added to the spam problem enormously.

OK I am stepping off my soapbox now, and if they ever do update PR again I will stand back up on my "soapbox" so you can laugh at me and throw pies at my face. But I stand firm that I believe PR is long gone for us users.

 

A google employee had said weeks ago that Pagerank is NOT dead...

 

Argh, not another predicting thread, people please, open the PR thread only when it happen.

That is why people are crazy about GOOGLE, MICROSOFT, FACEBOOK & DMOZ.

 

they always pick a less traffic date for update, makes the task more easier

Seeing, people craze over Google monopoly PageRank strategy, Bing Power The Yahoo is launching it's PageRank. By date, Other major SE are also now focusing to lead themselves in market with PageRank tactics.
Google has been hammering around SPAMMY sites, new concepts to get over Blackhat methods, Strategy over No-Follow and much more in last 9+ months.
Now, rest of the major SE's are coming with their PageRank to kill Big G monopoly over PR. Do you still believe Google PR is dead now.
Well, No, They have employed new tactics to assign a web page a Rank, so called PageRank with new strategy they developed.

are you sure but i am not even know body because google never told that when they are going to update their keywords like adesense

Good point, anyway if Google remove the PR toolbar, another metric will be used and of course it will be from another company...

 

And Bing has simillar metric of PR, the Page Score.
