So, in the last few months i managed to get alot of high PR backlinks for a site. This site has also a forum, where i DIDN'T get any backlinks for. What i notice now is that the main domain www.domain.com still is stuck at PR 2 while www.domain.com/forum moved up from PR 0 to PR 3. After reading how PR works, this still doesn't make sense to me. Anyone got an explanation ? How can a page with so many backlinks have a lower PR than a subsection of the site ?
Its possible you got some natural links to the forum (eg people liked it and linked to it) having sitewide links on your site would have also helped Dan
pr dont really matter for new sites. traffic will come naturally if you have original content and google will bring the small gold out for you. the pr you will get depends on the quality of your backlinks and how much effort you put on the site.
First, Toolbar PR hasn't got nothing with REAL PR. If your forum page has got higher PR than homepage, then you got more backlinks pointed to forum which have 'high' PR. Quality of backlinks hasn't got nothing with PR. Only inbound links can boost PR, and if you want to boost your PR - get some high PR links.
Sorry for my ignorance, but aren't backlinks and inbound links the same thing ? I definately don't have more backlinks to the forum. The only link pointing to my forum, comes from the site itself.
Same thing kinda happened to me. One of my sites which i focused very well on getting lots of quality links only jumped to PR1 wheras my forum which only had a link from the site going to it got a PR3.
