If these google creator pages get indexed quickly and spidered frequently they could be very usefull.

I noticed this with the new services that google offered. When it launched Analytics (Urchin stats), it couldn't do what it promised "stats will appear within 24 hours from putting the code in your site". It took like 6 days or so. Also, it stopped accepting new registrations for a while. Now, this is happening to the page creator service. I think google is best at search techniques but when it started to play in the area of webmasters, it will take it time to advance and be expert.

More places for them to stick ad's ... i think they will sorta do a gmail setup on this one.. right side ad's and also related page links...

    From the pages TOS:

The manner, mode and extent of advertising by Google on its services are subject to change. "Due to heavy demand, we are unable to offer new accounts for today. If you'd like to be added to our waiting list, please enter your email address."

Can i be bothered? Is is needed? Is it a gimmick?

The Google Page Creator is still under beta. Yesterday I gave it a test drive, quite good actually. Very easy to use although a bit limited in features.

Perfect for beginers or people without html knowledge.

for those complaining about the waiting list, its a beta!!!

why should Google fork over a bunch of money to allow everyone to participate in a product beta that may never be released to the public in its current form. servers and bandwidth cost money and a beta like this probably already places significant demand on the servers due to the behind the scenes testing. just beinga a webmaster doesn't entitle you to being in every google beta.

Google loves betas. Take Google Groups, Analytics and Gmail as examples. Google Groups which was launched more than 3 years ago still in beta!

I think Google is on the way to trademark "Beta" for name protection.

    LOL Good one :)

Don't like their chances tho.. I think MSN beat them to that (ie beta search) :p

    Cheers,

Hm... I heard angelfire, geocities.... I am wondering if this happened after some news releases mentioned that MySpace has 2.5 times Google traffic. Could Google be interested to compete with them?

This new project is clearly for web beginners and I think it could be personal profiles as well (I could be a bit paranoid now since I was late and was not able to see the G Pages and interface... waiting on the list ;( ).

I think they are developing many projects and simply do not know what will "stick" so they never allocate the proper resources until some statistics is available.

What I do not understand is G Analytics launch... They clearly need to do something about it. Couple of days ago I received an email saying that now I need to have Google AdWords (not AdSense, but AdWords) account to continue using G Analytics... they mentioned that sinse my site receved > 5 million page views a month I have to register for AdWords (wondering if anyone here got the same email).

Did they say you just need an account or that you have to spend a certain amount of money there? Really weird, always thought Analytics is completely free.

I didnt see this posted, so here it is. Google Page Creator

I signed up and the interface is simple but looks very slick although its nothing too powerful. Finally anyone can now start up their own webpage easily, which is kind of cool. Everything is hosted on google servers. You are even able to upload files, and there isnt a limit as of now. Everything is real time as well, WYSIWYG editors are sweet!

Just thought id pass it along...

edit: apparently you are allotted 100mb for storage

I was unable to sign up due to heavy demand. Anyone know if you can put links on the google page. I rekon it is gonna lose some web designers a bit of money as people are able to produce there own websites easily.
