Ok, I dont know much about SEO, but I know that getting good links back to your site is a good thing right? Im in an entertainment niche, and I was page 4 on google for "watch anime online" I got page rank 2 links on 2 sites 2 days ago (Thats alotta twos) And Shortly after I dropped to page 25 in google. What the crap?! Anyone have any ideas as to whats happening? What might have caused this?
No idea what caused it, but the new IBLs aren't the problem. If you could poison a site with IBLs, people would start doing that to their competition on purpose.
How new is your site? Most new websites change ranks drastically for the first couple of weeks if not even months, until the engine calculates their true rank. I've had new worpress blogs with no content what so ever, just the welcome post you get when you install it getting 25-30 uniques from google every day for about 7 days. They then drop down in rank and don't ever show up on google for months.
Thats not cool. I wanna show up. Site is about 3 weeks old, went from page 6, to 3, to 6 to 5, back to 6, and down to 4, before i hit rockbottom at 25. I was getting about 40 uniques daily from google at the serp page 4 spot too.. I HOPE I get shot back up soon. Thanks Danny, and everyone else, Ive been so frusterated with this.
same thing here. I was in top 5 for a phrase, but after massive directory submission now my site doesn't even appear in search results. It's like being banned but the site: commadn gives results. Don't know what's happening, but that was my primary source of traffic. The site is 3 months old by the way.
could be just a coincidence. google plays that kind of stunts all the time, keep building links and you should be back up again
Probably because your site is new? I remember when I just got mine indexed for the first time it had very good rankings, then a few days later it dropped bit time, but now it's back in good positions. Yours will probably appear where it deserves to be within a day or two.
This effect happens sometimes - google gives you free placement for sometime when they just discovered your site and then drops you to a sandbox. There is not much you can do this (well some very strong links may help). Your site should reappear slowly over several months.
it's a little late but building shed loads of links to a new domain is not good. Not good at all. I've never heard of success stories this way, and its what some people call the 'sandbox' where you've overcooked the SEO and G doesn't like it. I find it's best to do some good on-site SEO, give the site a couple of links and let the site 'rest' for a while. Move on to something else while Google sorts itself out. Blasting out the links straight away has never been good.
Update* I am now on the twenty third page.. At least Im moving somewhere, gives me a bit of hope. -- I first did the search and went straight to page 25, and i wasnt there, and thought OH CRAP I went down even further! So was a nice surprise to see an increase. I appreciate you all sharing your knowledge, if anyone else has any ideas, let me know!
if your web slip into sandbox just be patience and enjoy it and also you can link exchange with your friend that had higher link that method will help you to free from sandbox
