My site www.iconrate.com seems to be hit, I've lost all positions but the pages at least are still indexed....
I'm not sure what I've done. Prior to last week I was receiving a minimum of 1800 uniques from google and now this week it's been at most 200 and today closer to 20 so far.
Could someone help explain what could be happening? Not that I'm too worried as msn is the way of the future imo.
    Thanks for any opinions.

This happened to me, and my site showed back up in the SERPs after about a week, I hadn't changed anything, and *more importantly* I didn't change anything after the pages dropped out of the SERPs. Have you done anything fishy recently?

Usually the opinion of those who are pissed at Google, or cannot manipulate Google :) No offence intended. I just think it is going to be lots of hard work for MS to start competing with Google.

    Always doing something fishy. *joking*
As far as messing with the search engine itself no, nothing at all fishy that I can tell (someone with more experience maybe could tell me different).

I *think* a big problem is all of the pr I'm sending out and then not getting as much back in, due to not using my weight on this site. There's a good chance I'm wrong about this as well, all speculation. Whatever it is it happened over the last week, but really happened just today. I can hope my story goes the same as yours in a week.

Now I know why so many people are hailing msn's release. I couldn't figure it out.

do you use heavy internal links? One of theory is that internal link count much less in this update.

Yes internal linking is used quite a bit, but I have quite a few inbound links as well including several pr7/8's.

You have 0% on-page optimization. People say that Google doesn't count that, but I am sure they are wrong.

schlottke, this reminds me of last update, when every single webmaster I could talk to was complaining about how terrible their new rankings were.

Exam, I agree with you. Hoping that MSN will be a solution to a traffic loss from Google is just dumb. MSN is a tiny ant compared to the elephant Google is, and it could take several years for it to start gaining popularity.

I have also lost all my top 10 spots, but same thing happened last update and in 2 weeks I was back to my good rankings, so all I can do is sit down and wait... while my traffic goes down in 50%.

Glad to see I am not the only one waiting, I just contine to update my site daily and that's it. MSN and Yahoo both send in 30% (each) from SE hits now, Google owned 90% before and dropped to 10% now. I hope they'll list me #1-3 soon again, cuz that's where I've been for months.

My website just got clobbered (www.fossilfly.com), it was in the top 20 for months, and then It just dropped completely off the search results for most of my keywords. I have been adding links over the past few weeks, and I have noticed that some of my interior pages have gotten a higher PR.

Do you think this is a fluctuation or something that will have long lasting effects?

I think that there is google bot update. You should wait a week or so and then make some decisions.
