I have been working on my furniture site for about 1 year now and my Google organic search results do not seem to be getting any better! My Google Base Product feed seems to be fair, as this is where I am receiving the majority of my traffic. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong. I am submitting articles to ezinearticles & isnare, directory submission to free directories & paid Yahoo directory (DMOZ won't pick me up after a year for some reason), relevant content on my website without keyword spamming, even squidoo pages with links. What is happening? What am I doing Wrong? How absolutely hopeless am I? Help?
From what I can see, it looks like you are targeting competitive generic terms. You need to do better keyword research and select keywords which aren't too competitive. Your page titles are rather weak too. Try to limit the titles to 70 characters. Your titles just look like long lists of keywords. This is not good for seo or click through rates. It does sound like you are doing things right, but 1 year is a short period of time to get any competitive rankings. You should vary your linking strategies to find even more places to find quality backlinks. Keep it up and you should get rankings eventually. Just don't expect rankings for keywords like dining tales, coffee tables or sofas.
Thats great advice from vansterdam Also you could work on more back links and also make sure your anchor text matches your keywords yoru targeting and also you can go to google trends.. and search several different versions of your keywords and find out what keywords are the most searched for then target them And check out digg.com digg every page of your site and use alot of keywords in ur digg titles and descriptions.. good luck
One suggesttion that I found useful when I did it was find some furniture (or whatever your niche is) related blogs and post some comments on them.
Your onpage SEO is not up to the mark. You need to add more content and it should be top notch. Seek professional copywriting help if you have to but do it right. There are too many links on your main page. Links pointing to internal category pages, product pages etc. I am not saying that this is a bad habbit but you can certainly improve your linking structure. Your page URL is also not optimized for search engine. Like here for instnace, http://www.penielproducts.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1 As Vansterdam suggested, your titles look like keywords stuffed in. The text is too little there. The title should be short and simple. It looks like you are putting a lot of effort in your offpage optimization but your onpage optimization is what needs some quick and seo friendly changes. Who designed and coded this ZenCart store for you? Do you still know the coder? Ask him/her if he can fix it. If you did it yourself, you should work on it again and code it right and keep SEO in mind while working on your pages. Just checked your Google and Yahoo backlinks and errr, you really need more links dude! If you need any help with the coding and design, perhaps I could be of any assistance. But please don't take this message as a business pitch or something lol. Just gave you some honest opinion
Thanks guys! I did this site myself, and it is my first go at website design. I am kind of learning as I go. I will do my best to enact the changes you guys suggest.
