Since about a month ago I have some issues with Most of the software on my computer not being able to pull all the data from google. I have been using Market Samurai, Micro Niche Finder and My SeoQuake plug in for Firefox and none of them seem to be able to get most of the statistics anymore. Micro Niche Finder gets info for 1 out of 20 sites. and Market Samurai cannot get any rank data from Google for my websites. It seems that most of the software on my computer that relies on data from Google cannot get it all most the the time. When I use Firefox through and do a manual search everything works fine. I am wondering can Google block specific requests from specific software? I know I can get results doing manual search but it seems that any kind of SEO software cannot get all the data? I know it cannot be to IP being blocked otherwise I would not be able to do a manual search in the browser. Any ideas and help would be appreciated.
Google used to check IP and block based on IP but not today. It seems Google has fine tuned their system well just to handle automate query. They can block whatever software trying to pull data from search results automated, even cloaked or pretended to be something else like a browser cannot help. I have faced the similar issues with many seo softwares I bought including SEO Elite / SEO Administrator and more. I do not think we could solve this problem by ourselves anyway.
I am wondering if there is someone on this forum that could verify that search engine can actually recognize that you are using some kind of software and not the traditional browser. Most of the SEO software out there uses technique called user emulation (i have no idea what that actually means), I would assume that it makes search engines think that it is the actual user and not some program. Any thoughts on that? And is anyone else out there having issues using SEO software or even "SEO" firefix plug ins?
Knowing that Google is the King of internet search today, I'm sure they have the capabilities to do that. Google recently release something about Privacy and automated software that are getting results might have affected..
that's why i don't use any tool or software on that situation... i still prefer doing it manually to avoid some problems..
Have you updated your software recently? Google changed the search layout around some weeks ago. I had problems to use Market Samurai shortly after that, then I updated to their newest version (should happen automatically if you have auto-updates enabled in the software) and all is working fine again. As for Google "penalizing" you because you use a certain tool, I don't believe in that, in the end, it is only a tool, what you do with it and how you apply your findings to your web sites is what counts. Just my 2 cents, SY
There's been a large number of changes in the way Google presents the results which might break it, plus various changes in the way it links to results. That's caused quite a few problems for people trying to hit "back" as there's often a redirect page in between presumably to track results....but it could also be seriously breaking anything trying to pickout URLs. Google has also been randomly presenting the data using SSL which might also seriously break some of the tools if they're not capable of using SSL (although in browser ones shouldn't be too bad). Finally they can sometimes spot automated queries by things like no referrer + very rapid set of requests etc. Exactly how they do it only they know, but often the collection software will trip these filters and block your access temporarily. Actually rather surprised they bother showing the URL in the HTML and don't just use an AJAX call to present it in the bottom bar. But maybe that is happening as there's mousedown code in there now.
