Hi, I have a large site (estimate that it has about 250K pages). I submitted sitemaps through Google Webmaster tools and has adsense on the pages and followed some of the tips in this forum and elsewhere. It's been like two weeks or more and Google only indexes like 1250 pages! which is about 0.5% of the website! is this worrisome. Is there a way to get better indexing on such a large site? any suggestions? Thanks, Tam
Don't worry if you have provided sitemaps and everything they will all get indexed fast Just take rest, make sure your sitemap have all the pages listed
Hi, these things take time, even submitting a sitemap doesnt guarentee that google will index all pages, there many cases it won't index a page ... maybe it has read the same content somewhere else or maybe doesn't think of them pages important, if you used a sitemap generator and that found your pages google will too, these things just take time.
Google (xml sitemap ) will take time to index all the url (first check is your xml sitemap is not more than 10 mb) Meanwhile you can submit your sitemap in Yahoo and Bing. These 2 search engine also give me some tageted traffic from your xml sitemap.
In the forums of Associated Content, many writers have complaint that Google does not index their articles. later on, someone had a chat with Google employee. He mentions that when a website is large, the indexing will depend on incoming links to individual page. Since you have a large website, I guess it will be very time-consuming to get backlinks to all the webpage.
Have you made sure your sitemaps contain no more than 50,000 URLs (and are no larger than 10MB?) If not, see http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=156184&hl=en Click "General guidelines for URLs in Sitemaps"
