Google Offering to Help Setup First Ad???

Discussion in 'Google AdWords' started by tjordan06, Sep 9, 2010.

I called Google to get information on a coupon that they sent me and they mentioned that they would help me setup my first campaign. Has anyone used this service? Would it be smart to have Google help me setup my first campaign? Or is it not a good idea?

    Thank you!
    Tim

If they set everything to broad match, after they've set it up, go into your camapigns, and change them to exact.

I'm surprised nobody has said yet it wasn't a good idea to let Google set up your campaign because they'll do it just to get the most money. To me that's sarcastic.

    Here's what I think.

Few people know how to properly set up and run a campaign. That includes people at Google. If they have thousands of advertisers asking them to set up a campaign, they'll need employees to do this. They may get some training (half a day maybe) but that is not nearly enough. They'll get the basics just to set an account up, basically an Adwords sweatshop: get it done fast. I suspect there will be little quality. I also wouldn't expect them to set up an account for an ecommerce site with a hundred products.

Go ahead and have them set it up for you, a product or two. You might learn something and I might be wrong about quality.

But, you should definitely learn about Adwords yourself. Don't let them set it up and leave it. Advertising should be nurtured and improved and not left alone. Even I strike out on a new campaign and I've done a lot of them. So I don't expect even experts at Google to create a campaign for you and that it would be so good, you'd have no more to do.

Perhaps - Google is not making as much as they planned in the third quarter
