    Hello
My site has been indexed in search engines (MSN and Google) and above all its ranking among top #10, but still google does not show my backlinks when I use link:mydomain. Although MSN still shows all backlinks.

    Please advice.

It might take months, or until the next page rank update before your links show up using the link: command.

Sign up for a google webmaster tools account, and use that to keep track of your links.

First - Google does only show links they judged quality enough via link: search operator. If you want to see total backlinks in Google perspective without waiting exported in search results, consider to get your site being verified with Google Webmaster Tools.

Second - Google does look on overall link profile and not individual quality link. This mean your site need a bunch of quality links and not just only 1-2 of them to be displayed as your backlinks in Google.

link:mydomain only shows a very restricted SAMPLE of back links google knows about.

Have a look in your google webmaster tools account (if you have one) to see a larger sample of back links google knows about.

Google never shows all links as it does not want to encourage link spam NOR make it easier for you to tell which types of links it values so you can spam them ;)

Google dose not update very often for the "link" command. You can see more backlinks if you sign up their webmaster tool. But still it won't show you all backlinks. So if you want to know all backlinks to your site on the web, don't use google. Yahoo can give you more information on this.

Till the end of January 2010, google was updating the backlinks algo once every two weeks. However since last February, google has stopped doing that. After Jan they updated the algo in the PR update which was on April 2nd.

So I think now google might be updating their backlinks algo once in a month OR in every pagerank update which comes every three months.

You just need to gather more and more backlinks and have patience, it will show up eventually.

Well, it depends on the algorithm of the Google that when it will show the back links with your site and the page rank too... all you need is to work according to the rules an regulations of the Google so that it can give some very good and relevant back links for the long lasting....

Google won't show all your backlinks when they update, since to safegaurd all your backlinks google is not publically showing all your backlinks and so they recommending webmasters to join Google webmaster tool to know more on your backlinks..

    hope it helps

    Cheers

Google doesn't work in the same way as other search engines, it seems to be more picky about the type of links that it classes as a backlink.
