While Google ranks my site for certain keywords, it isn't ranking the correct page (which is keyword targeted) for some reason. For example if I rank for "Tiffany Inspired Jewelry" it will list a different incorrect page which is targeted towards "Tiffany Jewelry Replicas" instead. I have a feeling if it showed my correct content page targeted towards "Tiffany Inspired Jewelry" I would rank much higher than what I do now with the wrong page. What could be causing this? Maybe Google sees problems with the right page or I just need more backlinks to it? Thanks for your help. Webwork
Check that your keyword density is not too high for that page (in which case it would get penalised) and try and get more links with anchor text to the page that you want ranked.
you would have to explain all the SEO you've done besides backlinks. What's the page H1 heading, the HTML title, the first 3 sentences of text, the meta description, the filename and URL, and your domain name? It's my understanding that everything contributes....
While back link with that key phrase is the most important one, you don't have control over it. However, you can do the followings: 1. Make sure the key phrase is in a header tag 2. Make the key phrase bold in the body of your content 3. Use the key phrase in title tage 4. Use the key phrase in meta description 5. Put an image and use the key phrase in title, alt attributes of the img tag. Name the image file name as your key phrase. 6. Have quality unique content so that others will be tempted to back link your page using the key phrase
Thanks for all the tips, I think the keyword density is too high and the pages are getting penalized.
Make sure your content is not way too optimized for Google. Sometimes exaggerating with keywords, bold, meta tags, images, etc. will not be appreciated by Google.
the other thing that can cause this is if your internal navigation structure doesnt correctly point Google to the right pages inside your site, ideally always through the keyworded anchor text you want to assign to the page you are linking for.
