I have a website that I use to post photos of properties I manage as well as properties I have for sale in the Indianapolis area. I link to this site from my advertising I do online for the properties for rent, sale, etc. I have been trying the past 4-6 months to make image names descriptive to what the address is and the area of town(using magic file renamer) to make it more google and search engine friendly. How do I get google and others to index this site? It is a great resource of photos of homes in the Indianapolis and surrounding area. Is there anything else I should be doing to get this indexed? The site is pictures.zionsvillehomesonline.com I guess I can't create links yet, grrr.... Thanks! chbartel
try putting in a robots.txt file for starters. Consider hiring someone to do your SEO and link development.
No search engine can see the pictures. Add descriptive copy that include whatever keywords you want to be found by. The more unique the copy the better the chance you will be listed.
would also suggest submitting to directories to get one way link back so as to boost your Google Pr here is a list http://www.selbourne.com/web-directory-list.htm All the best
I see you are using coppemine. Not real sure what you are trying to do with these images presented in this manner. Doubt you are ever going to get this indexed. What I meant was to add a caption to each image. You would be doing a far better job of presenting your product if you had a simple page that said: Here is a photo of the recently redone guest bath at the home located at 701 Blackthorne trail. You must have hotlinking disabled. I can't make the picture show in the message. I will leave the link so you get the gist of it.
google will put your photo pages in the supplemental index if they don't have enough content on each page
I don't know, but the supplementals seem contagious like if you have some pages without enough content, not only will those pages go supplemental they will spread to your pages with content
I will work on a few things you suggest. Basically, I create advertisements elsewhere with details on what the home is, sq.ft. etc. I think have links back here for "additional photos".That is all I use it for, is for advertising additional photos, nothing more. I had read somewhere that I should create the names of each image file as related to the area, etc. which would help with indexing.
I may start adding some additional content to each page. It's not a huge deal to me, as I have my other websites that I generate leads for. If there is an easy way to get better indexing on the page..
