Google is the powerhouse of the web, can't even imagine a world without Google. Imagine what happens if Google is down for two days, the chaos can then be experienced.
Possibly, but as more people get online in China, that is yet another reason Google sees their dominance erode, as Google is such a small player in the country with the highest population on Earth
There was a time when people did not know about Google. Today, most of us who is even a slight internet user very well knows about Google. That's massive reach, it won't be easy to break in. It will be really very hard to get a break here, since Google has millions of cash to invest as and when needed. But an out of the box solution has the best possibility to work.
Duckduckgo is really good. Should also checkout Ixquick.com. I know many folks who use both of them together in order to get unbiased results as well as at least some privacy.
Duck Duck Go is definitely up and coming. I see it competing with google in the near future, most especially due to their privacy agreement!
I agree with @danasurvey it is the most widely used search engine in the whole world. But in my opinion, I think "the best" works only for people's preference. It might not be the best for you but it can be the best for me or for everyone else.
benoitpaulantoine wrote: "Duckduckgo don't know website bounce rate so...they won't give better result than google does." The problem with Google and the other main searchengines, is that the results provided to you are based on your web history. Therefore you are not necessarily getting the "best" results because Google is providing you with results which it thinks would be best suited to you. Searchengines such as Duckduckgo, ixquick and startpage etc do not take your web history into account, when providing the results to your queries and so the quality of the results, by definition, is far better than that of Google. You also get the added benefit of a LOT more privacy than you would at Google, Yahoo etc. I would also suggest trying out Epic Browser, https://www.epicbrowser.com which is a totally different browsing experience!
Yes as you say Pham Ngoc Hai, Google is indeed the King and a powerful one at that! I must point out however, that the Americans have been known in the past to kick very powerful Kings out of their land
"Google rules on every desktop now." Yes but things change. They always do. Microsoft has ruled the techie world for a long time but now we can see the chinks in its armor appearing from all sides. Just because Google rules almost every desktop now, does not mean that it always will. New technologies and new trends accompany the shifting sands of time, bringing inevitable change for us all.
"I'm still getting a lot of organic searches from Google." Is that really true though? You know that Google records all your movements on the web and when providing results to a query from you, it takes in to account your surfing history and then shows what it thinks are the best results for you! Try and search for the same thing using a searchengine that does not track you or records your IP address and see the difference in the results that you get.
I am afraid that Bing provides the same kind of biased results, based on your surfing history and on top of that it is no where as good as Google in grabbing the results ij the first place! So I am afraid that Bing would not be better in any way!
