I run a file sharing site, and we have previously been listed in both Google News and Google Blogs. We have flip flopped from one to the other, about 3 times. Does anyone know why this happens if it is an editorial choice on the part of google, or some kind of rating mechanism, or what? Obviously we would rather be considered news because we produce original content (which other people blog about all the time), and because Google News gets much more traffic. Has anyone had any success petitioning Google to keep them in the news section?
I have no idea how they work. it makes virtually no sense to me. they're pretty messy tools, in my opinion. I even see forums listed in the blog search in like half of my queries.
Even though the news button is right above the search bar so it is incredibly easy to check the latest news I would rather go to the effort to visit the BBC website and go to my local news region. Messy is probably the perfect word to us!
I have been disappointed with Google News as so many of the results yield spammy blogs. Maybe Google is still trying to figure out how to categorize your site, although I doubt that a human being is making that determination.
yea same, digitalpoint forums always comes up in there, beating my sites on their own topic...i still dont know how to get vbulletin forums included in BLOG google SEARCH
