I've had a blog/newsite niche in google news for over 3 years. I don't spam at all, and I realize there was a crackdown on google news because of these people spam blogging to get clicks from adsense. Google put a new algorithm and they still include the smaller news or blog sites in the google news search but they just don't give them a place on the featured top spots. I cover sports and have an insider who breaks down trades and deadlines in sports. He has actually broke a couple of stories, but Google news no longer puts any of our articles on the featured spots. Instead they put the Big sites that make millions of dollars and have huge traffic. A site called Bleacher Report even posted an article linking to one of my sites articles, and put that on the featured spot, which makes no sense since we broke the story first but they didn't give us a featured news spot. My traffic has died big time, and I've had two advertisers pull their support from my site because over the past two months the traffic dropped big time and I lost a big portion of my income. I don't get whats going on, I was happy at first that google finally did something about the spam and autobloggers who steal content and got into google news spamming. But why do they allow sites like Bleacher Report and other sites to spam post hundreds of articles on the same subject and nothing original, and give them a top spot? Whats funny is even google's competitor Yahoo sports blog gets a featured spot. They just don't allow smaller sites anymore to get featured spots. I wonder how the new algorithm works. Anyone know I can submit my site to Yahoo News?

thanks for the reply, My site is still in Google news, and I already asked questions but never received a clear answer from google help. I was wondering if anyone here has experienced the same thing with google news or even with the search and rankings. It just seems they only put the big new sites up now and Bleach Report, whats weird is Bleacher Report has like 100 writers just posting spam of other news with only like a paragraph. But they get put on the featured top news.
Does anyone else no whats going on? How come they are only putting major news sites like NY Times, LA Times, or big earning sites like Bleacher Report, SBnation, Examiner on the featured spots?
Could be as simple as trying to regulate the amount of spammy news that gets into those spots. If sites like Bleacher Report don't clean things up or produce unique content they might even be hit next. Google seems to be on the move.
