Well PR is back and I think G did a big house cleaning over the weekend. I compared results from Yahoo and G where I used to rank between 1 and 5 for a whole slew of my keywords. Yahoo is unchanged but in some cases I have dissappeared completely from google (fortunetly all my eggs are not in one basket) Another interesting thing I noticed is that G might be getting a bit more frugal in how it indexes deep pages. For example if I search for the title of an obscure page on my site G brings it right up, but if I search for a unique sentance in that same document it tells me no results where found. Maybe they were always doing that? Index primary or high PR pages completely, but only index titles of deeper pages? I just did a quick search and it looks like they may be effectivly filtering out allot of the spammy built for adSense sites. Perhaps they did implement TrustRank after all? Looking forward to hearing about your experiences.
Google has been sending me up and down over the last 2 weeks, dropping me one day, coming back the next. I don't think there is anything new going on just yet, but it is far too early to tell. Another day or two worth of logs and maybe I can notice a difference in how the googlebot is indexing me, but I have no fear of what may be coming. In fact, I welcome it.
As wierd as that is, I have finally leveled off after a rather bumpy ride.... I don't think it will ever end...
Googleguy confirmed over at WMW that they are not using any Trustrank or anything, just plain Pagerank. I happened to pop into that super long thread right on his post this morning.
hmm ... most of my keyword is down 20-100 spots ... and some of them just completely dropped by google .. they were all dropped by the big G and then all picked up again .. but all had dropped in SERP .. Hate this im losing big bucks daily I think google has enhanced their algo abit .. as i did not change anything and all of my SERP is down .. kinda weird is that my allinanchor also dropped by 60 spots ..
Not much of a concensus on this then. For my part I seem to be seeing allot less web-spam sites then last week. I still have my money on TrustRank being implemented. If I was G and I saw the link mania that PR caused, I wouldn't advertise the implementation of an automated spam filter. I'd just turn it on and watch the search results improve. my 2 cents.
