I have a site doing 50k pageviews a day, and Adsense is currently showing 3,254 page impressions for the day.

I have Bidvertiser set up with geotargetting as a backup and it shows 20,000 page impressions.

Something is wrong here, why is Google underreporting my page impresssion?

are you sure its 50K page views or 50 K hits. Hits are not page views. Hits means every single item read or downloaded including pictures. Hits are often XXX times than pageviews.

Secondly google reports impressions based on ads shown to user. you will see average impressions from all channels.

Yes I stated correctly. 50,000 pageviews, not hits. Hits are averaging in the high XXX,XXX.

'Google reports impressions based on ads shown to user"

... Right. So does that mean Google shows only unique impressions, or if a visitor sees 10 pages that counts as 10 ad unit impressions.

Even with YPN I was showing a LOT more ad unit impressions.
