An article on TechCrunch announced today that Google, Microsoft and two other companies are to bid on Digg. Digg is for sale for a few hundred million bucks (pocket money to Big G and MS). With Microsoft already selling advertisements on Digg for the next few years, it would be rather odd if arch enemy Google were to own Digg. In what perspective should we see this? Would owning Digg just be another battle won by Big G in its continuing internet war with MS? What's the purpose of Big G owning Digg? Showing off to MS or increasing its already big dominance on the internet? Any other views?
I'm sure if google did buy digg then they'd come to some sort of financial agreement with microsoft aswell so that microsofts ads aren't on digg anymore.
The article mentions that too. Wouldn't it be extra painful for Microsoft if it were to "loose" the revenue from advertisements on Digg too?
