Guys had you ever heard abou the google mayday and the new changes on the search algorithm that is taking traffic up and down of some sites, take a look.
This is not any surprise, thus a good change made by Google first time ever. Most of the times they do adjusted algorithm to handle spam attempt but this time they helps a lot of small websites to get ranked for long tail keyword instead of dominated by a big brothers.
Hi, Mattcut has explained Mayday Updates very well in his video. that there are over 400+ changes made in Google Algorithm last year but this May day updates was visible to most of the webmasters and hence he finally declare it on his video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJ6CtBmaIQM
traffic is like topsy turvy.... high low high low... fed up.... I hope this google mayday is over now...
"Impotent" means something completely different, bro ;-) Guys, there were lots of discussions here on MayDay. It started in the beginning of May, and beforequakes were sensible already in April. Actually, its not that clear and 'always' that small sites get better or vice versa. I read many contro reports. So the update was not targeting this criteria (big/small). Still trying to understand what exactly has been changed within the algorithm.
It didn't start in May. It started on March. I was one of the first members in that thread. Some moron at WMW decided to name the already going thread "Mayday" in May. You know how the threads are cut off there month by month. Just one long thread split by month.
Yes, its been tough journey since last one month. Traffic is going up and down. I tried to analyze it with my clients' analytics and ranking. You can read the report and live case study in my latest blog post about Google MayDay Update!
There are several other factors that can take away visitor traffic from search engines and other sources. For instance, there were quite a few TV finales in May, and it’s commonly known that traffic to business sites tends to drop when people are tuning into a television set instead of surfing the Web. If you have a site that traditionally loses traffic in the spring and summer (like a snow removal service), then you may not be seeing adverse results from the Mayday Update.
I don't see how google can not respond or leave things as they are. Who now is getting the long-tail traffic? I think this is an example of why aspects of google's business practices should be regulated. It would be one thing if there were a healthy, competitive search ecosystem - a change in one engine wouldn't kill businesses. But with so much of the economy being driven by subjective assessments (enshrined in algorithm) of one monopoly, businesses need transparency and recourse if large traffic drops occur. Google's secrecy costs businesses untold amounts - they wont tell you if you've been penalized because they don't have to. Microsoft does - it has to, to compete...
It is mainly about the "long tail keywords", the algorithm will almost kill almost 90% of the blogs and everybody can see this on their analytics account now. The priority will be given to manufacturer/distributor websites. ie, if you have optimised your page for "sony kdlxxx lcd tv review" the top results will be sony's official website and merchant/distributors selling page. I really wonder how google can list these sites for the term "review". We can't do anything. Hope Google will observe user behaviour and closely watch the effect of their new algorithm and bounce rate.
Hello Friend, Really , i want to know about that and i have get good information from this post , thanks friends for sharing about new concept .
I really don't get much updation on my few sites by Mayday update..but few sites are facing more up and down... and i think it is due to Mayday updation.
