I am curious on how Google does the the Map thing. Putting an address and seeing the picture of the houses at the address? How is that done?
Don't you just type in the exact address and it will come up? Only certain areas and locations though will only allow you to zoom in so far. Who exactly are you trying to spy on or what are you trying to do with Google Maps? I know this can be done with Live Maps how ever.
Not trying to spy any one, i am just wondering how it gone done if i can see picture of my own house on google map too.
Google buy the images from satellite imaging companies that cover the whole globe, although only some areas at certain resolutions. They have a database of addresses and co-ordinates, and when you search for those addresses, it plots the co-ordinates on the map and shows you the satellite imagery of that area.
http://www.engadget.com/2007/05/31/the-google-street-view-vehicle-revealed/ Theys got a van and some candy --- I saw a funny little Google hatch cruising around my tiny town a few weeks ago. They had a weird "serious looking" antenna thing on the top of the car. I'm guessing it was for checking their GPS co-ordinates for G Maps or something, cause it certainly wasn't their Street View mobile.
