Does it help SEO at all if I have a Google map on my website with the location of my plumbing business??
It most likely will not help with SEO, but it could be useful to your users, so do not decide whether to add a map or not solely on the SEO benefits. http://blumenthals.com/blog/2012/01/24/google-places-myth-linking-to-your-places-page/
It most likely will not help with SEO, but it could be useful to your users, Google map, perticular placement location. Does it help SEO at all if I have a Google map on my website with the location of my business??
so you 2 morons dont know then, so why comment?! It's not useful to my users as it's a plumbing business run from home. Customers don't ever need to come there and my address is on all advertising. I will only add a map if it benefits my website in search engines. why can't people just answer questions that are asked? I can assume things all by myself, I come on here for facts not assumptions. Does anyone KNOW if adding a Google map will add juice to my rankings on Google and/or other search engines? thanks
It is not help to SEO promotion, but it is helpful to user point of view. Google map location useful for locate of business.
First off you are bound to get more assistance and help if you respond in a civil way rather then calling people morons. We are trying to help you here. Second, how would anyone know based on your initial question that it is a business run from your home? The truth is no one can tell you 100% for sure whether it will help or not because the algorithm is not public. Unless the search engines come out publicly and say it will or will not help you, people can only answer based on experience and experiments they have done, and to the best of my knowledge I have never seen any public comment from the search engines on the benefits of doing this. It is possible that it could send another signal to the search engines that your business is indeed active and open and help to further validate it in their eyes, and thus possibly giving some benefit in the local rankings, but as far as just putting a map on your website with the location of your plumbing business it most likely will not offer you any SEO benefit.
It's irrelevant if it's a business run from home or not which is why I didn't say. I didn't need to bore or confuse people with unnecessary details. I asked a straight forward question hoping for a straight forward answer, sick of getting people jumping in just to promote a link or bump their post count up like yourself. I don't need you tell me to "do not decide whether to add a map or not solely on benefits" because THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I WANT TO DO!!
Just to put your mind at ease that not everyone on these forums is out for self promotion but does actually try to help, I do not care about my post count (feel free to look at my posting history and you will see I do not give useless answers just to boost my post count), and secondly I have no affiliation whatsoever with the link I shared with you. The link I posted is to a site run by Mike Blumenthal, who is widely recognized as one of the top local search experts. The article discusses how linking to a Google places page is seen as offering no benefit, and while it is not exactly the same as linking to a Google map it is fairly close, so that is why I shared it. That does not specifically answer your question, but it is similar in nature, so do with what you like. There are people here who try to help, but sometimes there are no definitive answers to what seems like straight forward questions. Sometimes we have to try and infer the benefits of certain techniques based on similar outcomes such as linking to a Google Places page.
