I have added my business to Google Maps, and for the whole month it has been in "Pending" status. I can actually find it if I do the right search, but it is not ranking well. There is nothing unusual or spammy about the listing, I have completed the phone verification, I cannot see anything wrong with it's settings. Does anyone know - is this normal, is there a protracted verification process. Is there anything I can do to complete this process or find out why it is still pending? I have read the Google help but there is no useful information
What was the verification method you used? Obviously SMS and phone will be the quickest. I'm assuming you have read this over?
Hi Brad. Thanks for the response. I used landline as the verification method and I had read the article you cite but was not aware that I may have "red-flagged" the system. However, I decided to play around with my listing again and after removing the term "SEO" from my business description - hey presto! Link active. I know google takes a bit of a dim view of SEO as an industry but are they attempting to stamp it out and not allow practitioners to advertise themselves? I wonder what that means for people with SEO services sites who try to market themselves through the SERPs?
