Was just wondering if listing your business in Google Maps can increase your site's SEO for regional keywords.
W'd be glad to hear your thoughts on this.

From my experience, map listings have no direct impact on your sites natural ranking on the organic results.

However, by having your company listed on google maps can actually make you appear towards the top of the search results providing you have targeted it right.

I created my listings with our addresses, and we wouldn't appear for hardly anything related to our industry in the given area's. To maximise the local business listings on Google, you also need to include the keywords you are targeting in your company name.

For example, if your company was called Blue Sky and you were selling products such as, blackberrys, you might create something like:

Blue Sky - Retailer of Blackberrys, accessories, chargers etc etc

If someone types in any of those words, you should come up to them within the local area.

    Hope that helps
