Google making me dislexic - Phrase results higher than broad

    I am doing some keyword research, and in the niche I am working, the broad match is returning about as few as 10% of the results shown for the same phrase or exact match. I will search a term in broad and get 20-30000 results, but when I use "", I get about 200,000-3 million. I have seen it before, but never this consistent. over 1/2 of my searches have resulted like this. Anybody have any reason why? Has the phrase been slapped maybe?

    Maybe its in a niche where people knows this kind of thing. Internet marketing niche?
