Google is expected to plunge into the world of Facebook and Twitter, using its popular Gmail service to allow users to post status updates and items.

The search-engine giant, which recently tweaked its search function to allow easier access to social media results, has planned a 1 p.m. ET event at its California headquarters.

They'll probably buy twitter or Facebook instead of starting another failure like Orkut.

Problem is Facebook is not likely to sell to Google. Facebook is like new Google while Google is like the old Yahoo. :D
Google is feeling footsteps behind and all this while everyone tot they were invincible :)

Orkut doesn't seems to work out! If fb don't want to be sold on Google, then they can still manage to buy twitter.

I like Orcut and prefer orcut . Even the new changes in orcut are as equivalent as facebook. google may come up with some new idea.
