How do you get a site listed in Google Local Results?

What are the methods for optimization?

Normal on-page\off-page optimization, then use Google Webmasters Central to geo-target where your site will appear in search results. Follow the below instructions........

    1. Login\Register at Google Webmasters Central (www.google.com/webmasters)
    2. Click your website in the dashboard (must be verified!)
    3. Click "Tools" in the top left menu bar.
    4. Click "Set geographic target" in the expanded menu.
    5. Select ratio "Associate a geographic location with this site"
    6. Click "Save" and follow on screen instructions.

What do you mean with local results? Are you talking about the links beside the local map that is shown for certain local searches? If yes, enter your google account, go to local business center and apply for a related listing.

Set the "Set geographic target" option in webmaster tools.

To optimize for search engines, get backlinks from relative local sites, use local host for your site.
