Hi, have read dozens of articles on improving my google local business rating - have implemented all the advice and yet my listing is nowhere! Behend all the other listings that are miles away and have no content. If a kind soul could have a look at my listing and see where I am going wrong then I'd be grateful. I am looking for a good ranking for "Plasterer BA3" :)

    My listing is:

    http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/place?hl=en&georestrict=input_srcid:9db5982bcff58d16

Also get listed in local vertical directories and classified sites like yelp.co.uk and relevant yellow pages.

cheers for that MacG. Have submitted to lots of niche directories and google page ranking isn't too bad via some of those directories but google local business rating is lagging behind. will take a look at yelp.

I've looked at your listing, you need to create/make "user content" and "citations" for your business, otherwise you will not be in the top ten.

create a account with Google’s Local Business Center. You are able to manage all of your local business listings, straight from your main LBC dashboard. You have to complete and verified with google.

    cheers for the replies.

Have created a google local business account and have 100% completion. Do I have to have backlinks to my google local page as well as my own website? All my local directory url's are pointed at my website and most only allow I url. I don't understand how/why companies without edited content or a website can have a better ranking than businesses with content and a website?
