Hey guys, Has anyone ever ran into a new client that has a verified local business listing in google but has no clue who created it? They do not have any google accounts etc. One of his past web designers maybe created this for him... How can I recover his local listing? Thanks, RD
This is a seemingly simply but actually pretty tough question. Google provides no simple way of reclaiming your listing once it has been claimed by someone (I think this is because some people have tried to claim their competitors' listings dishonestly). Your best bet might be to contact Google Local's support team to deal with this: http://maps.google.com/support/bin/request.py?contact_type=open_bug But before you do this, consider that it may be easier and faster to contact everyone who might have created the listing in the first place. Google can have your listing unclaimed, so that you may reclaim it. I have found at least one case where a similar issue was solved by a Google employee directly: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/maps/thread?tid=53d0066dae74fc05&hl=en I hope this helps a bit!
