when I go into google and type in my site crowntutoring, there are around 300 sites with links. about 200 in yahoo site explorer. yet for the longest time link:crowntutoring.com is only returning one link on google. I just recently modifed htaccess to route all queries to xxx.com instead of www. xxx.com. Also after I reset with google my preference to xxx.com with webmasters tool, my site dropped in rank for the keyword tutoring, and shows no links in the webmasters toolbox when before in the tool box there were around 150. I have most of links from directories and such pointing to xxx.com and xxx.com has a PR of 2. and the www version has a pr of 0. I hope the htaccess rewrite will let google see it is the same page. meanwhile, I am confused what is happening with the link situation. any input would be great.

Read this from Matt Cutts. It'll explain what you are experiencing.

thanks, I've read it before. is there anything else I need to do besides the redirect? is seems like my issues go beyond this?

i strongly suggest you to use 301 redirect fom non www option to www option.

you can also set this on google webmaster tools

Nothing else to do, just make sure you used 301 level redirects, and give it more time while google webmaster tools refresh almost once every 30 days.
