I have seen that in many websites xhtml valid icons are there. Is it that google likes Xhtml Valid Pages or no such problem is there with pages shaowing some errors.
those web sites are mostly design web sites. they are not putting "xhtml valid icons" for getting more customers but in my opinion, search engines loves xhtml valid pages too
It's more of a myth I think... do a validity check on google.com homepage itself. They have more than 60 tag violations lol Ajith
google may like xhtml but i dont think. They do not need to be valid. They valid or invalid they will show their rank first only. Usually valid html sites do not cause problems in browser. They can be run in any browser.
it doesn't matter. my website doesn't have html valid headings, is on a obscure subdomain and got PR3 within 5 months.
valid does not matter but how you have sorted your layout is what matters. Look at the way google sees your site without images etc.. split a layout well with headings name your images and title most. See it as a map that you have to make as easy as possible for google to read it.
Interesting to see this brought back from the dead on the same day I was about to pour a few hours into cleaning up my code. I'm not sure if this affects search traffic, I was using a template that was fully valid, yet my traffic keeps going up steadily since I've switched to one with 30+ small errors. I think this isn't one of Google's top priorities in ranking pages. Of course, make sure the page loads right in multiple browsers because if your users don't like the page it doesn't really matter how high you rank on search engines.
google policy suggest site should be w3c validated and having no errors thus its easier for crawler to get update from pages.
