Google Like Redirect or Not?

Guys, if one buys expired domain names in order to get their traffic, is it okay to 301 redirect them to his website? Or do the websites must have (or used to have actually) similar content in order to do that?

I think 301 redirect is one of the most important tools of seo
It is a great way to give a new site some credit of old pages

I am afraid in the future if it is used too much - google will stop liking it
