Has anyone else noticed that Google Trends is lacking in updates. There have only been two updates in this past year. One back in March of 2008, and then July. Google says they update Google Trends daily now, but that is deceptive. Only the Hot Trends is updated daily, which only shows the most search phrases of a given hour. Even then, the data on the searches is not up to date. What's the deal? The front page is good enough for daily updates, but not the data behind it. Sounds like Google is under the impression that people judge books by their covers. There is no meat to this fancily wrapped package. Seriously, take a look, the data is significantly lacking in content. It is a little curious why they don't update this more often. It seems like they update Google Trends less than they do Google PageRank. (Which Google also leads people to believe it is update on a daily basis internally. It is not. Sure, SERPS are updated daily, but trust me page rank is not.) Nevertheless, check it out sometime their is interesting data on Google Trends. It is an underestimated resource.
