What happens if you search "pages from India" only? Are you #1 there or only for the overall web search?

jakomo seems to have summed this up on page 2 or 3.. Go to your Google webmaster panel and set up geo targeting. I frankly can't believe the number of so called seo folks who don't even know it exists.

    This thread is completely dysfunctional.

I believe most of traffics are from indian sites. Try to focus more on USA traffic. Just my 2 cents.

Google knows traffic. ( I am pretty sure) I own 100 websites....this is not one website. All 4 websites I gave to Indian guys. BOOM all 4 are tops in india. Mixed results here.

Google ABSOUTELY KNOWS CLICK THOUGH PLACES Locations and puts you higher there. I dont know the terms. BUT THEY SIMPLY KNOW.

This may not be news to most of you. but google knows where your clicks come from and then boost you in the country.

Also, India is a SOFT market for Herbal Pills and Vitamins, so that is also a reason, I think.

    SO:

    1. Google knows where the clicks come from.
    2. Google knows some how (your in india) when you enter a link in some directories or social book marking.

The keywords are like page 10 here. Page 1 there.

Its like a snowball effect. (again, I THINK) You start buy hiring the dude, alittle traffic boosts you in a soft market, then you move up (get more unwanted traffic) then your boosted up high in the Indian market. then BOOM you have an Indian site. Haaa. So yes I will try to target USA terms, etc. Not just change my meta tags to say Americans # 1 selling, etc

    Thanks

I agree with the traffic theory. Most SEOs wont agree but I think google do everything they can to track traffic: toolbar, analytics, click throughs on serps, time spent on site (when they can) and proabaly a whole lot of other stuff, and yes I think this affects rankings.

Think about it guys, why would google dance? I don't think they are saying "hey, lets mess with all these webmasters heads by moving the serps round all the time." No, they are measuring clickthrough and relevency of pages on different search terms (as initiated by backlinks) by giving each page a bit of exposure.

Why do new sites have initially strong rankings: because they want some initial quality/relevence data. (Not: "lets get thier hopes up so we can crush em down" :) ).

I understand this is pretty much the opposite view to alot of SEOs, so flame on and lets figure this out :).

    Cheers guys.

Probably the site is submitted in indian specific search engines and directories, links from the sites relating to india and the stuff like that

great if you want to attract an indian audience, i always ask the question what SEO techniques do you use, in order to protect you site from companies that engage in black hat techniques that can get your site banned.

But something is wrong with all this theories (or Google is wrong):

If google track backlink locations, etc. then i CAN purchase a lot of indian seo to make that my competitors rank in india google but not in the international?

I guess its not that easy.

Otherwise, this could be a very dangerous point that leaves that a 3rd party make damage to a site that he dont control.

    Think on it.

You can't say our methods are not great!!
Secondly, machines cannot be beter than people.

It's just that IP address tracking has been done and every website activity like submission on social bookmarking and all were from India alone and google just thought Indian people love that site. They ranked the site high for india that's all. But it should show up soon enough on US google too, I guess. geotargeting is good, but I tried it once and didn't find much results. any way try it out.

Most of companies are outsourcing their SEO work in india and India is great platform to do all the IT services and they've increased many techniques for offshore outsourcing.

but in Case of SEO so I think, Indian seo Companies Must have try to collect the back links from US, UK countries if their target is US or UK.

but most of Indian seo are doing link building with Indian sites .

and if possible just set the GEO targeting in google webmaster account.

    Thanks
    Eric

He must have informed client about the targeted region, then it could have been better results. And in case of SEO company he hired its their mistake that they should have asked for targeted region and promoted site accordingly.
