Google Knol : http://knol.google.com The domain www.knol.com is in use, do you guys think Google is gonna buy knol.com? if yes, then the knol.com owner is gonna be lucky What you say?
I don't think so. I think it would be more likely that they would buy www. images. com before they buy www. knol. com.
No I don't think so, it won't be worth the price. I don't think knol will be used to much to be honised
Well if I am the owner I will definitely say I am not selling. It forces Google to come up with something that is really attractive if they are really keen on securing the domain
Well to help you guys all out of the dream; no the owner is not going to sell nor is he going to change his family name because a company like Google chooses to use it. Besides that, i can assure you that google did not even bother to contact them yet, and they already know the name will be used since at least december 2007.
Good question,I could imagine it would be easier for users to type instead of http://knol.google.com but that is about it.
Well, that doesn't sound very intelligent does it? Of course they can "pretend" like they don't want to sell it to get a good price, but come on...Google is going to probably offer them a ton more than what they make selling "steam cleaning equipment" or whatever junk it is they push! Google being interested in your domain is what most people hope for! /sigh Some people...
For the people that have not read this from the big G themselves. http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2008/07/knol-is-open-to-everyone.html KP
You assume that google is interested, like i said, if google was even remotely interested they would have contacted us a half year ago already, they did not, at this point they did not contact the owner either. No offer, no contact. Obviously you also do not have an idea what the costs are of changing your company name, and all things involved in that, while i certainly believe google can pay up for it, it is not 'that' simple as you say. All i can say is that it has been busy on our servers the past days, but nothing we can't cope with.
