I was happy when I saw my site elevated to a higher PR on the New Year's day but now it has kicked me down to the second page. Surely, it can be a mistake but it is a very costly one. It has halved my revenue. Anyone has had a similar experience? how did it workout in the end? What did you do to correct this? Or did you have to just accept this mistake and begin to crank the wheel again?
Page Rank doesn't have a direct impact upon SERPs however it may just be Google testing sites in different positions. It is regular for this to happen and you will return if you carry on building links and posting decent content. You got it when you say 'crank the wheel again' exactly that. Google takes time to satisfy and you will go up and down on a regular basis. It doesn't always mean its your site it could be google altering algo, testing or just shaking things up a bit. Keep at it
Focus on getting good quality links to your site and putting up good content. Last fall my PR went down, but my SERPs positions went up. I've always spent my time working for links that are related to my site without regard for the PR on the page they've come from. That strategy has rewarded me...so far.
Like simstar said your pr and your rankings in the serps are unrelated. You should continue to build backlinks and you will eventually regain your placement in the serps.
Links is not the only factor that search engines look for their results. You must improve your content and other on-page stuffs in order to rank well. Increase in your page rank is a good indication for your way to the top position. Just keep it up!
I had the same thing, unbelievable!! It was a new site of about 2 months old, I was already on the first page (top 5 position) of google, I got an PR2 and now my site can't even be found any more with SEO Elite. WTF is this???
This has been the case with me too the last PR review. But it is the exact reverse of it. Let's hope it gets back to where it was With working and waiting with crossed fingers being the name of the game, you have nothing more to do than get links. I agree with you that all it matters is you are getting links from relevant places and without bothering about their PRs. Thanks for this.
First, ask yourself the question: Do I want a good Pagerank, or do I want myself to perform well for keywords in the SERPs and/or drive more traffic and convert more sales/clicks on my site? If you want more traffic and better performance, I have a simple 2 step solution for you: 1) Uninstall the Google Toolbar. 2) Never look up your Pagerank again. It's worthless. The days of spammy linkbuilding with bogus directory links are over. You're not going to make any real $ with a couple of adsense ads on a spammy little wordpress site. Instead, look into real SEO and effective online marketing.
I am beginning to think that this is radically true. Browsing this forum proves this many times over. Still, one thing eludes: why down rank sites, even if one assumes good site must do well in Google rankings?
My site lost page rank but gained in the serps, i much rather the traffic than a notch on the little green bar we call page rank.
It's really funny, you know? I was up there with whatsoever number of links I have to enjoy with. Now to get back there, I am required to increase the number from the once sufficient figure. I can think of competition as being the foremost reason for sliding down of SERP and Google is not to be blamed for this. What say?
Nobody really talks about this too much, but I agree. On-page is getting to be more important, plus it's one factor you can easily control. It's worth a try improving the on page optimization.
I agree with you. It is not easy to ignore this. SEO had become a mad rush and many small webmasters like I tend to forget this important factor. The result is clear and for everyone to see. Google rewarded for one work (link building) and penalized me for neglecting the other (onsite issues).
It is just the result of other webmaster working more harder than you on SEO. Try to build more back links with your keywords.
